DOXA CHURCH HISTORY
Doxa Church began as a dream from God in the heart and mind of Jimmy Shaw. In 2007, Jimmy and his wife Beth began gathering a core team and crafting the vision and mission of the new church. The team settled on the name Doxa Church. Doxa is a Greek word that means glory, and the team loved both the name's meaning and its uniqueness.
The church started worshipping together on Sunday mornings in Jimmy's living room, using a couch as a pulpit and a CD player, which they affectionately named Frank, as a worship leader. Throughout the first year, God added people to the young church, and it wasn't long before Doxa outgrew the living room.
In early 2008, God opened a door for the church to relocate to the Green Country Event Center, which would serve as Doxa's home for the next two and a half years. While at the GCEC, God developed a strong leadership team and a healthy philosophy of ministry, and by the Spring of 2010, it became clear that Doxa would again outgrow its facility.
Doxa Church relocated to its current facility, the Riverwalk Movie Theater in September 2010. Moving to the thater was a big step for Doxa, but it is an incredible facility in a great location, and it has strategically positioned Doxa to engage Tulsa with the Gospel.
