WELCOME TO DOXA CHURCH
What can I expect my first time at Doxa Church?
We know it can be a little unnerving to step into a new thing, especially when you're not exactly sure about the details that matter to you. Here are some answers to frequently asked questions about the church to give you a picture of what Doxa Church looks like week to week and hopefully address issues important to you.
What does Doxa mean?
Doxa is a Greek word that means glory or praise. It is the root word from which we derive the terms doxology and orthodoxy, two very important terms for Christians.
Isn't Doxa a strange name for a church?
Yes, Doxa is a strange name for a church, but we feel that it is a name that does a good job of conveying what we are about, bringing glory to Jesus by living passionate lives in love with him and sharing his love with people around the world. Also, our church values creativity and uniqueness, and we feel that our name is a good example of both.
What does Doxa Church care about?
It is a general rule for us at Doxa Chuch to refuse to use cliches and acronyms for just about anything at the church, but our core values are our one exception. We speak about our core values in terms of the acronym G.R.A.C.E. We believe that grace is absolutely central to our mission and message, and it just so happened that each of our core values started with a letter from the word grace, so we just couldn't resist. What kind of people make up Doxa Church?
What you'll encounter when you attend Doxa Church is a diverse biblical community where people seek to know and love God, live in community with others and transform the world by serving our city as we think Christ would. Practically speaking, that means the some of us are just checking out Christianity for the first time, while others have been in church their whole lives. Doxa members are typically pretty young and span many different ethnicities and backgrounds. Everyone is welcome.
What if I'm not used to going to church?
You are the reason we started Doxa Church. Doxa wants to be a comfortable place for those who are curious about God but have never felt comfortable in church. We want Doxa to be a place where you can learn and wrestle with who God is and what He wants for you. It's okay if you don't have it all figured out yet. We see life as a journey, and we all have to start somewhere.
What will the worship gathering be like?
Doxa Church is a place where we keep it very simple. It's relaxed but focused. We don't need to be flashy or put on big productions for people to meet God. We believe that Jesus is enough. We begin all or our worship gatherings with prayer and a relevant and engaging message from the Bible. We repond to the message by taking communion together and spending some time singing and worshipping Jesus.
What does the pastor talk about?
The sermons at Doxa are always practical in nature. We believe that God wants to be involved in our everyday lives, so we present the ageless truths of the Bible in a format that's easy to understand, even if you've never been to church. Typically, we work through one book of the Bible in its entirety to fully understand God's truth in context, and occassionally we take a few weeks to do a more topical teaching series.
What should I wear?
At Doxa Church, you're welcome to wear whatever you'd like. There is no set dress code, although the attire is more on the casual side. Just be you.
How do I get to a gathering?

Are you going to ask for money?
If you are a visitor to Doxa Church, we do not want your money; we are just glad that you chose to be with us. If you visit a Sunday worship gathering, fill out a visitor card and drop it in the offering basket so we can get to know you. That's your contribution to our service and ministry. What about my kids?
Do you have a children's ministry? Absolutely. Doxa Church is a family-friendly environment. We believe that children are a blessing from God and should be taught about God in a fun learning environment. We offer children's ministry to age 10.
Can I invite my friends?
Please do. We seek to be a welcoming environment for people who are curious about Christianity or who are seeking to belong to a community of believers.
